Helikon-Tex SFU Next Uniform

What’s camo got to do with it?

Combats are very important to an airsoft kit bag. As a team it’s good to run two sets, one CQB & one woodland. One of my roles when I shoot is to disappear and then hit the enemy team where they don’t expect it. For that you need to tick boxes some BDUs just can’t. It’s important not to stand out so if you’re in woodland not wearing something like AOR1 is a great start.

Recently I have been looking for some kit I can roll with that serves the purpose of being able to blend in & not be MultiCam. So, as like many shooters, I have a go to kit supplier. Military 1st has always seen me right.

The Helikon-Tex SFU NEXT Uniform

When it comes to getting kit ASAP for the weekends shooting I have never been let down by the Military 1st team. I’d been thinking about the SFU Next Uniform for a while so when I saw the SFU Next Shirt & Trousers on their website I decided to go for it.

The SFU is the next generation in the M81 US woodland Pattern camo. Still used by US Special Forces Commands such as SEALs, PJs, NAVY EOD & Air Force Forward Air Controllers. This Special Forces Uniform is amazingly made. Tough, durable double stitching means this kit isn’t going to fail you when you need it the most & with Full Rip Stop Fabric, the SFU is made to be hard wearing.

One feature I really like is the reinforced Elbows & Knees. We have all been there, bought a set of Asian Market BDU with the elbow and knee pads in. The fixing being stuck in Velcro squares which means after 2 hours or one wash they don’t stay in. Not these bad boys! They have sealed pockets for the pads on the knees & elbows, making it great feature for us shooters.

SFU Top

The top fits really well. There is ample Velcro for patches on the chest and arms. The top even has small velcro squares for IR recognition dots (IFF). You have more pockets to shake a stick at with a total of 6. These are perfect for Pyro, note books, Glow sticks or those snacks for a long Mil-Sim game.

All the pockets are deep and fastened by Velcro. Also, the four pockets on the body are expandable allowing you to carry more. A cold weather beanie or watch cap for nights when your baseball cap just doesn’t cover it.

The button front with flap makes it quick and easy to get on and off during done time. The waist also has a button adjustment on each side. This helps it fit all the better under a chest rig or plate carrier. The Wide sleeves with Velcro fastening allow for them to be rolled up in hot weather & are just as easily rolled down when the time or rain calls for it.

The SFU top is great whether used stand alone or as part of the set.

SFU Bottoms

The SFU bottoms are by far the best Combat bottoms I’ve had in a long time. The quality is unbelievable. The double stitch, ripstop fabric is amazing. You can really throw yourself about in this kit & it just takes it all & smiles back.

A belt kit isn’t needed when using this set. Both Map pockets on the legs have inbuilt space for M4 magazines, 2 on each leg, a fantastic addition allowing you to carry more mags. Despite this you still have ample space to carry maps, orders or whatever else you are given for the shoot. The leg pockets are fastened by buttons but this isn’t a problem for quick in & out access for those mags.

The bottoms have strong belt loops so you can wear a riggers belt with holster and pistol mag clip along with a d ring on the front for personal retention lanyards. They really had the operator in mind when developing these trousers.

To sum up, if you are looking for some new combats then look no further. The SFU is durable kit, can be worn all weekend on a Mil-Sim event & stand up to everything you throw at them & more. So if you’re impressed by this & are wanting your own then give the guys at Military 1st a visit, they’re great & willing to help. They’ll get your order out nice & quick. Order from their site you’ll get a text from their delivery company with your tracking number & time of delivery. Everything is done to get your goods to you ASAP.
